1. مَنازِلاً مِن ذاتِ خَلقٍ عَبهَرِ

    تُصبي أَخا الحِلمِ بِأنَسٍ وَكَرَم

    Dwellings of one with a form like the narcissus,

    Captivating the man of reason with charm and grace;

  2. وَجيدِ أَدماءَ وَعَينَي جُؤذُرٍ

    لَبَّ بَأَرضٍ لَم تَوَطَّأُها الغَنَم

    With a white gazelle's neck and a wild calf's eyes,

    Residing in a land untrodden by the flock;

  3. وَحاجِبٍ كَالنونِ فيهِ بَسطَةٌ

    أَجادَهُ الكاتِبُ خُطّاً بِالقَلَم

    And an eyebrow like the letter Nun, drawn long,

    Which the scribe perfected, tracing with the pen.

  4. أُراقِبُ النَجمَ كَأَنّي مولَعٌ

    بِحَيثُ يَجري النَجمُ حَتّى يَقتَحِم

    I watch the star as though I am enamored,

    Following where the star courses until it sets.
