Turn to us, my boon companion, with a drink
That increases desire and removes dignity
The musk emanates from her mouth to us
And she has dwelled among dignity and honor
She is the night in her nearness, darkness
When she appears in it, she becomes daylight
The merchants sought her out and brought her
To our hunting ground to drink, O honorable one
So get up and serve me from the grapes’ daughters
On a Christian girl with a slender waist
Her hips complained of its saddlebags’ darkness
It was so dark that it persecuted and confined them
So bring a wine that heals intoxication
When it fells its drinkers intoxicated
There is no good except becoming drunk on wine
And it's said, what are people but drunk?
So how good is drinking wine especially
On roses like the cheeks of maidens
Its breath rises into the air
And returns upon us scattered petals
And we hope for forgiveness from our Lord
Whoever seeks refuge in the generous will find refuge
