    قَسراً فَقَد يَئِستُ مِن روحِ إِعتاقِه

    Longings; it holds people's hearts enthralled

    By force - how hopeless the quest to set it free!

  3. فَالوَجهُ كَالشَمسِ في لاذ المَغيبِ وَلا

    أَقولُ كَالبَدرِ في لألاءِ إِشراقِه

    The face is like the sun in the glow of sunset, not -

    As I'd say - the moon in its shining radiance.

  4. ما ذاكَ مِن سَقَمٍ فيهِ وَكَيفَ وَفي

    فيهِ الشِفاءُ لِمستَشفٍ بِدِرياقِه

    It's no mere sickness that afflicts him; how could

    A wretched hospital cure him with its remedies?
