1. كَفى حَزَناً أَنّي مِنَ الشَوقِ لَم أَنَم

    وَهاتيكَ نيرانُ الأَحِبَّةِ وَالخِيَم

    I have suffered enough sleepless nights from yearning

    And here are the fires of passion and the tents

  2. وَأَنِّيَ بِالشاغورِ ثاوٍ وَمَنزِلُ ال

    أَحِبَّةِ قُدّامي لَدى مَسجِدِ القَدَم

    I stand at Al-Shaghour, wandering, while the dwellings

    Of my loved ones are before me by the mosque of Al-Qadam

  3. وَأَنَّ مُقيماتٍ بِمُنعَرجِ اللوى

    لَأَقرَبُ لي مِن دارِهِم وَهُم أُمَم

    The women of Muniqaraj Labwa are closer to me

    Than their homes though they are different tribes

  4. وَكَم بَينَنا وَالدارُ مِنّا قَريبَةٌ

    إِذا نَحنُ حاوَلنا الزِيارَةَ من عَلَم

    And how close we are, though the house is far

    When we try to visit, it is hard to know where to go

  5. وَبيضٍ وَسُمرٍ مِن سُيوفٍ وَمِن قنا

    ظُباها مِنَ الأَبطالِ راعِفَةٌ بِدَم

    With the white and brown flash of swords, and from spears

    Whose blades are bloodied by heroes

  6. وَخَيلٍ كَأَمثالِ السَّعالي مُشيحَةٍ

    بِشوس مُلوكِ التُّركِ وَالعُربِ وَالعَجَم

    And horses like Sa'alik, driven

    By the firmness of the kings of Turks, Arabs and Persians

  7. إِذا حَمَلوا وَالسَّمهَرِيّاتُ غِيلُهُم

    رَأَيتَ ورودَ الأُسدِ تَزأَرُ في الأَجَم

    When they attack, and their whetted swords

    You would see the roses of battle roar in the throng

  8. وَهَل يَنقَعُ الظَمآنَ رُؤيَةُ مَورِدٍ

    يُحَرِّمُهُ لَمعُ الأَسِنَّةِ وَالبُهَم

    Can the thirsty man be quenched by seeing a spring

    Forbidden him by the flash of swords and lances?

  9. وَأَصعَبُ مِن هَذا وَذاكَ ورودُ مَن

    يُحاوِلُ حالاً في مُجاذَبَةِ التُّهَم

    More difficult than this and that is attaining

    What one strives for in the pulling of the reins

  10. أَخي إِنَّ في قَلبي إِلَيكَ صَبابَةً

    مُقَسِّمَةً أَجزاءَ جِسمي عَلى السَّقَم

    O brother, in my heart for you is a love

    That permeates my body in all its pain

  11. شَرابي دُموعي وَالدِّماءُ مِزاجُها

    فَهُنِّئتَ كاساتِ اِبنَةِ الكَرمِ وَالكَرَم

    My drink is my tears, and their mixture

    Is blood. Congratulations to the daughter of generosity and nobility

  12. لَدى شادِنٍ ساقٍ وَشادٍ مُغَرِّدٍ

    إِذا ما تَغَنّى أَذهَبَ الغَمَّ بِالنَّغَم

    There, Sa'din was erect and Sa'd was singing

    His song would drive away care with its melody

  13. وَلا زِلتَ مِن خَوفي عَلَيكَ مُسَلَّماً

    وَعِشتَ سَعيداً في النَعيمِ وَفي النِّعَم

    And still I fear for you and am apprehensive

    While you live happy, in bliss and comfort

  14. مَدى الدَّهرِ ما هاجَ المُحِبَّ تَذَكُّرُ ال

    حَبيبِ وَما أُفضي بِسِرٍّ إِلى قَلَم

    As long as the lover remembers his beloved

    He confides no secret to the pen

  15. فَكَم لَيلَةٍ وا حَرَّ قَلباهُ بِتُّها

    أَهيمُ غَراماً بِالَّذي قَلبُهُ شَبِم

    How many nights has he tossed sleepless

    Suffering for the one whose heart is desolate
