شَكَوتُ إِلى قَومٍ زَماني وَأَهلَهُ

لِزُهدِهِمِ في مَلبَسِ المَدحِ وَالحَمدِ

I complained to a people of my time and their kindred

Of their indifference to praise and eulogy attired

فَقالوا تَبَدَّل عَنهُمُ بِسِواهُمُ

فَقُلتُ لَهُم في كُلِّ وادٍ بَنو سَعدِ

They said: change them for others, and be not confined

I said: The tribe of Sa'd inhabits every vale and height

وَأُقسِمُ ما هِندٌ لَها الغَدرُ وَحدَها

وَهَل في نِساءِ العالَمينَ سِوى هِندِ

And I swear that Hind alone betrayal in her person tied

Is there among the women of the worlds besides Hind applied?
