How much piety your grave has embraced, O Mawdud,
How much piety, chastity, kindness, and gentleness
and chastity, and righteousness, and gentleness!
Does your grave now contain, O Modood!
You never approached a sultan to serve him,
You did not seek to serve kings,
but found sufficiency in the Sultan of sultans.
But found bliss in serving the King of kings.
We weep for you, while you are too occupied for us,
We cry for you while you are busy
returning the greetings of bashful, wide-eyed houris.
With lovely wide-eyed houris in the highest heaven.
May God water the tomb in which you dwell,
God has watered the shrine you inhabit
until you see it as a bed of green, fragrant herbs.
So that you see a fresh, verdant garden.
