Whoever hopes for good from Ibn ʿUnayn
Who hopes for good from the son of 'Unayn,
Gains nothing from him but Hunayn’s two slippers.
Will get from him naught but faint, hidden sorrow.
He is heedless, while his days
He lives in heedlessness, and his days pass by,
Spin the yarn of his dismissal with both hands.
While he twists the thread of his seclusion in his hands.
In him, the sultan caught an Umm Hubayn lizard;
The sultan has blocked Umm Hubayn,
What good is there in catching an Umm Hubayn lizard?
What good is there in hunting Umm Hubayn?
