لَبِيسُ اللَّبِيسِ طَعامٌ يُعَابُ
وَقَدْ صَدَقَتْ لَهْجَةُ العَائِبِ
The armor-clad creature is a food deserving blame;
indeed, the faultfinder’s verdict has proved true.
نَدِمْتُ لِمَلقَاهُ شَاكي السِّلاحِ
لَهُ شَوْكَتا طَاعِنٍ ضَارِبٍ
I regretted encountering it, bristling with arms:
it has two barbs, fit for thrusting and striking.
فَآكُلُ كَفِّيَ مَعْ لَحمْهِ
وَأَنْتِفُ مَعْ شَوْلهِ شَارِبي
Thus I eat two hands along with its flesh,
and pluck out my mustache together with its raised tail.
