1. أُعِيذُ كَمالَ الدِّينِ من شَرِّ حادِثٍ

    يُمَيِّلُ عنَّا وَجْهَهُ وَهْوَ مُقْبِلُ

    I invoke protection for Kamal al-Din from the harm of any calamity—

    one that turns its face away from us even as it approaches.

  2. وَنَفديهِ بِالأَقمارِ فَهْيَ لِنَعتِه

    وبِاسمِ أَبيهِ تَستَديرُ فَتَكمُلُ

    We would ransom him with moons, for they befit his description;

    and through his father’s name, they grow round and become full.
