1. أَنَا تِبْرٌ فَوقَ خَصْرٍ

    صَارَ لي حِلْياً وَزِينا

    I am dust upon a waist

    That became jewelry and adornment

  2. قَالتِ الأَعْيُنُ لي ضِقْ

    تَ وَضيَّقتَ عَلَينا

    The eyes said you are narrow

    You have narrowed upon us

  3. لَسْتَ مِنَّا قُلْتُ مَن قَا

    لَ أَليسَ التِّبْرُ عَيْنا

    I said who said I'm not one of you

    Is dust not an eye as well?
