طَلَبْتُ مِن عِندِكَ أَصْلاً طَيّباً

فَقلتَ لي طَلَبْتَ مالا يُمكِنُ

I sought a noble origin from you

But you said, "You ask the impossible."

انظُرْ إلى فِعلي فَأَصِلي مِثلُهُ

فَقلْتُ هذا العُذْرُ عُذْرٌ بَيّنُ

Look at my deeds, judge me by them,

I said, "This excuse is plainly seen."
