أرَى إنجازَ وَعدِكَ قَدْ تَمادَى

وَطَالَ مَغِيبُهُ فَمَتَى اللِّقاءُ

I see the fulfillment of your promise has been delayed

And its absence prolonged, so when will we meet?

وَمَازالتْ وُعودُكَ كالأعادِي

قِصَارَ العُمْرِ دامَ لَكَ البَقاءُ

Your promises remain like enemies

As long as you live and my life grows short
