رَأَيتُ أَنفَ ابنِ خُنُفْرٍ وقد
تَطاوَلتْ أَجنابُ حِيطانهِ
I saw the nose of Ibn Khunfudh when
The sides of its walls became long.
أَنْفٌ أَبو الهَوْلِ على جِرْمهِ
مُحْتَقَرٌ في جَنْبِ بُنيانهِ
A nose, shameful in its sinfulness,
Contemptible next to its building.
وَهْوَ كَسَبْعِ الحَوْضِ في فَتحهِ
فَاهُ وفي إعلانِ أَجْفانهِ
It’s like the lion’s snout in its wideness,
With its mouth and evident upper jaw.
وَيَكمُلُ التَّشبيهُ فِيه إذا
غَرِّقَ في الماءِ إلى آذانهِ
The comparison is complete in it when
It is submerged in water up to its ears.
