1. يَا طِيبَ شُرْبي بِأَوْقَاتِ الأَصِيلِ وَقَدْ

    تَداولَ الشَّرْبُ أَقْداحاً فَأَقْداحَا

    O my sweet drink in the late night hours when

    The drinking passed from cup to cup.

  2. شَرِبْتُها وَكَأَنَّ الغَرْبَ نَادَمني

    فَبَات يَشْرَبُ شَمْساً تُشْبِهُ الرَّاحا

    I drank them as if the west reproached me

    And stayed up drinking a sun resembling the winds.

  3. ثُمَّ اصْطبْحنا فَدَرّتْ مِن أَبَارِقِها

    والشَّمْسُ مِن شَرْقِها فارْتَحْتُ وارْتَاحَا

    Then we greeted the morning, and there poured from its lightnings,

    While the sun rose in the east, so I rested and took comfort.
