أَنشَدَني شِعْراً بهِ

ظنَنْتُ فَاهُ مَبْعَرا

He recited poetry to me with it

I thought his mouth was eloquent

وَقالَ لي كَيْفَ تَرَى

قُلْتُ أَرَى مِثلَ الخَرا

And he said to me, what do you think?

I said, I think it's like braying

فَقالَ لى اسمَعْ غَيرَهُ

قُلْتُ كَفَى ما قَد جَرَى

So he said to me, listen to another

I said, enough of what has happened
