دع صاعداً إذ مضى يمضي ولا يَقِفُ

ففي أبي خَلَفٍ من صاعدٍ خَلَفُ

Let one who has passed, pass on and not stand still

For in my father Khalaf, there is a replacement for Sa'id

وقلْ له مستميتاً بالمقالِ ولا

يَغْرُرْكَ من صاعدٍ تيهٌ ولا صَلَف

And say to him, insisting in speech, do not

Be fooled by Sa'id's lost wandering and impudence

يا من يحاولُ إِسرارَ الإِجارةِ وال

منقاشُ يَشْهَدُ والمقراضُ يَعْتَرِف

O you who tries to secretly rent

There is no bargain when the witness testifies and the lender admits

إن الإجارة سرّاً غير ممكنةٍ

لأنَّ سِراً تَعَدَّى اثنين ينكشف

Renting in secret is an impossible secret

For a secret between two will be uncovered
