You are safe from the day we sat
With nothing but flowers all around
Varieties of roses among them
Types of jasmine and other kinds
Until when the sun inclined to set
In the west and our cups inclined to us
And the rainbow stretched its bow
As al-Burjas stretches his bow
Goblets flowed between us swiftly
As if they were racers in a race
Then we slept, not one of us a lad
Gladdened by a leg or a head
We sway from the weight of wine like
The lote-tree sways from the weight of dew
