بيني وبينكَ طولُ الليلِ والأرقُ

والشعرُ والحبرُ والأقلامُ والورقُ

Between you and me is the length of night and insomnia

And poetry and ink and pens and paper

وَحَرُّ صدرٍ لو أنَّ البحرَ ضُمِّنَ ما

ضُمَّنْتُ منه لكاد البحرُ يحترق

And heat in a chest - if the sea was contained in it

I would not contain from it - the sea would nearly catch fire
