شقيقةٌ شقَّ على الورد ما
قد مُنِحتْ من كثرة الصِّبغ
An anemone—the rose was pained by what
she, the anemone, had been granted: such abundance of color.
كأنها من حُسنها وجنةٌ
يلوح فيها طَرَفُ الصُّدغ
As though, in her beauty, she were a cheek
where the tip of a sidelock shows.
