إذا متلوِّنُ المنثو

رِ أُلِّفَ فوق أَطباقِه

When the stock flower is many-hued,

behold how its layers are joined within it:

تلوَّن لي بياضُ الج

وّ في ألوانِ أوراقِه

to me, the whiteness of the air took on color,

wearing the colors of its petals.

تَلَوُّنَ وجنةِ المعشو

قِ من لَحَظاتِ عُشَّاقِه

The beloved’s cheek took on color—

say, from the glances of his lovers.
