للدل فيه عجائبه
للشكل فيه غرائبه
Coquetry has its wonders in him,
and everyone finds marvels in him.
للحسن فيه شمسه
وهلاله وكواكبه
Beauty has in him its sun,
its crescent, and its stars.
ولصدغه في خده
حرف تنوق كاتبه
His temple-lock, upon his cheek,
is a letter its scribe fashioned with exquisite care.
ظبي يصيح عذاره
يا غافلين وشاربه
A gazelle—his cheek-down cries,
“O heedless ones!”—and so does his moustache.
