Have you seen eyes more beautiful than narcissus flowers,

Or those who glance at them in the middle of the gathering?

Pearls split open over rods of emerald, above brocade-covered pillows.

Camphor eyelids with saffron eyes, soft to the touch.

As if they were moons of night that stared closely,

At suns of darkness above a smooth branch.

Shimmering in the flickering of their shadow,

Yearning for the glance of the watcher.

So if the winds uncover them they breathe,

A breath like musk - what a breath!

And it was said they drew close to each other one day,

Like an intimate to an intimate.

This and that embraced in a gathering

Of love, while she embraced in an orchard.

And if you doze off from the wine you see them

Yearn to you with eyes that did not sleep.

Are those or white acacia blossoms across from it,

In front of that radiant springtime, more beautiful?

O you, the cupbearer, whose glances

Have become entrusted with capturing souls.

You have dropped my heart between a covetous glance

Of affection from you, and a disappointing word.
