My boy has grown rebellious and wild
He sold his fine rhymes and wordplay
For ugly gossip worse than any tale
And challenged a humbled barber after glory
Black as a billy goat leaping with the nanny goats
With a leather bottle full of murmuring beads
Like a gourd filled with geese
To the combs that lined up the eyebrows of Qaz
To the refuge, nothing beside it he touched but withered
As if the rhyme scheme of his contract was a rhyme scheme of beads
He doesn't trill the meem when the ghayn trills
He was admired by one mounted on white who spurred
How strange is this one whose hand is thrust in the saddle bags
As if he were a lamb herder in a bouquet of flowers
