My lion, like the swelling grapevines,
My lion, decorator of empty deserts,
My lion, mount of every wronged one,
My lion, donkey of nomad and settled folk,
My lion, path of the market he walks
Whoever wants in the resting places and spots,
My lion, like the inn’s gate he knocks,
Its knocker assembles crowds over crowds,
My lion, like the archers’ keep missiles flew
In it, arrows of Turk and Khazar,
My lion, his rental is his trade
Rental is the evilest of trades,
Like the sea except in avoiding
Whales in colors and shapes,
The prayer of pilgrims wherever performed
The pilgrims won victory over it,
If your eye saw a lion,
You saw blindness of sight from a lion,
Lying on his face, slapped
By the plagues, slaps of cotton by spindle,
Waiting coming and going,
In a pasture like cows’ pastures,
And remaining entering and exiting
Like a garment when sewn by needle,
