لا زلت تحمي ذمار الدين والأدبِ

وظلت محتجباً عن أعين النوبِ

You still protect the ethics of religion and literature

أتى نداك ولما أدعه عجباً

وكم دعوت ندى قوم فلم يجبٍ

Your call came, and I did not find it strange

And how many calls I made to a people, but they did not respond
