يا حادي الركب أنخ يا حادي
ما غير وادي الطف لي بوادي
O guide of the caravan, come O guide
There is no valley like Al-Taf for me
يعتادني شوقي إلى الطف فكن
مشاركي في شوقي المعتاد
Let my yearning for Al-Taf make you
Share with me my usual yearning
للَه أرض الطف أرضاً إنها
أرض الهوى المعبود فيها الهادي
By God, the land of Al-Taf, it is a land
The beloved land where the guide is worshipped
أرض يحار الطرف في حائرها
مهما بدا فالنور منه بادِ
A land that confuses the eyes in its ruins
No matter how it appears, it radiates light
حي الحيا الطف وحيا أهله
من رائح من الحيا أو غاد
Al-Taf is alive and its people are alive
With a breeze of life or absence
حي يرى أنواره موشية
تزهى على موشية الأبراد
It sees its lights decorated
Above the decorations of meadows
زهوى بحب المصطفى وآله
على الأعادي وعلى الحساد
Its pride is in loving Al-Mustafa and his family
Over the enemies and the envious
قوم علي منهم وأبناه أف
ديهم بآبائي وبالأجداد
My people, from them is Ali and his sons
My fathers and grandfathers
هم الالى ليس لهم في فخرهم
ندٍّ وحاشاهم من الأنداد
They are the exalted ones, unmatched in their pride
And far from equals
يا دمع أسعدني ولست منصفي
يا دمع أن قصرت في إسعادي
O tear, make me happy and be fair to me
O tear, if you fall short in making me happy
ما أنس لا أنس الحسين والألى
باعوا به الاصلاح بالإفساد
I will not forget, I will not forget Al-Husayn and his family
Who sold him, corrupting righteousness
لما رآهم أشرعوا صم القنا
وجردوا البيض من الأغماد
When they saw him unsheathe his sword
And bare the whites of the swords from their sheaths
نازعهم ارث أبيه قائلا
أليس ارث الأب للأولاد
Disputing with them his father's inheritance, saying
"Is not a father's inheritance for his sons?"
أنا الحسين بن علي أسد ال
روع الذي يعلو على الآساد
I am Al-Husayn son of Ali, the lion
Who rises above the lions
فأضمروا تصديقه وأظهروا
قول مصرين على الأحقاد
But they pretended to believe him and showed
A resolute intent for malice
ففارق الدنيا فديناه وهل
لذايق كأس المنايا فاد
So he parted from life ransoming us, and is there
One who tastes the cup of death ever satisfied?
ولم يرم زاداً سوى الماء فما
أن زودوه منه بعض الزاد
He did not prepare provisions except water, so they
Did not even provide him some provisions
أروى التراب ابن علي من دمٍ
أي دمٍ وابن علي صاد
I water the soil with the blood of the son of Ali
What blood! And the son of Ali is preventing
حمى الصفايا ن بنات المصطفى
في ملك أو غاد بني أوغاد
They protected the delicate ones, the Prophet's daughters
In a kingdom or absent, children of the absent
قريحة أكبادها تملكها
عصابة غليظة الأكباد
A gang with callous hearts rules over their anguish
With a gang of callous hearts
لذا غدت أيامنا مآتماً
وكن كالأعراس والأعياد
So our days have become bereavements
While they were like weddings and holidays
