إِذا جَوَارِيكَ غنّوا
فَاطْرَحْ علينا دِثارا
When your slave girls sing
Throw a cloak over us
وارَيتَهُمْ وَحَقِيقٌ
لِقُبْحِهُمُ أنْ يُوَارَى
And I saw them as they are
It's fitting, for their ugliness, that they be concealed
قَدْ قُلْتُ إِذْ قال صَحْبي
لِمْ يَضْرِبُونَ سِتارا
I said, when my friends asked
Why is a curtain placed?
لَوِ اطَّلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ
وَلَّيْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِرارا
Had you looked upon them
You'd have fled from them in haste
