Parting with my master is
A restless, anxious parting.
And my distance from him
Afflicts me with incurable illness.
Yet he forgot his promise
Though the master is no common man.
Does he forget my taking the cup
Yearning for another cup?
My urging more wine to be poured
In bowl, in cup, in goblet?
My drinking the first of the cup
And my drunkenness after all men?
My attacking the cupbearer,
My friend, attack of a sly fox,
My singing through the watches of night
And with singing there's nothing amiss,
My pouring in the heedless hour
Wine into cups of revelry.
So in that is what has wasted me
Of remembering my Enais.
Else, here am I in my final hour
And poetry remains after me
Like a body lacking a head.
