سقياً لجيرونَ وللبريصِ
إذ عيشُنا صافٍ من التنغيصِ
Offering drink to my neighbors and all around
When our life is pure, free of bitterness
نفسِ اسلكي بي طُرُق التخليص
المورداتي مَوردَ التمحيص
My soul, take me along the paths of deliverance
My pursuits are those of testing and purity
مَن غاصَ في غيٍّ فلا تغُوصي
أو حاصَ عن رُشدٍ فلا تحيصي
He who dived into mischief, do not dive in
Or obtained righteousness, do not miss it
خُذي عناني من يدِ التربيص
وذا أوانُ البَوصِ لي فبُوصي
Take my rein from the hand of frivolity
And it's time for me to advise, so advise
ما جُعِلَ المصدوقُ كالمخروصِ
عَرَّصْتِني فاجتنبي تَعْريصي
The trusted was not made like the suspect
You have put me down, so avoid humiliating me
ألهى عن الحُشوكِ والشُّصوص
والهمِّ بالمقبوضِ والمقبوصِ
Preoccupy me from thorns and little thorns
And concerns with the clenched and the clenched
والشغل بالتزويق والتجصيص
ما حُصَّ من جناحيَ الحصيص
And work on adornment and embellishment
No part of my wings of the avaricious was feathered
ومصُّ ماءِ الثمدِ الممصوص
وبيعُ دهري رُطَباً بشِيص
And the water of the overflowing pond was not sipped
And selling my life moistened with worthless stuff
لستُ من الجثجاثِ والقصيص
ولا من الجأبِ ولا النَّحوص
I'm not of the cadaverous and bony
Nor of the cowardly or the fleeing
ولا من البكر ولا القَلوص
ولا من القانص والقنيص
Nor of the virgin or the chaste
Nor of the faultpicker and the picker
ولا لطيف الخَصر عبْل البوص
قَدْنِيَ من ذاتِ الحشا الخميص
Not of the slender waisted, slow and steady
Take me away from the essence of wickedness
حلفَ الهوى محالف التنغيص
كأنّما بُخنِقَ بالخبيص
The love swore oaths of bitterness
As if being strangled with ropes
حظِّيَ من غالٍ ومن رخيص
طائرُ زْجلٍ ليس بالغَموص
My luck from the expensive and the cheap
A free, unrestricted bird not gloomy
أحقُّ طير الزجلِ بالخصوص
ليس إذا يقمصُ بالمقموص
The most deserving bird in particular
It's not when it's clad with the outgrown
ولا إذا ما حِصنَ بالحَيوص
في الحسبِ الموفور لا المنقوص
Nor when fortified with cliffs
In good lineage, not deficient
والنسبِ السَّالم لا المقروص
من النَّصيص النعتِ فالنَّصيص
And pristine ancestry, not cut off
From advice is the advisor, and what advice!
مُقلَّصٍ وأيّما تَقليصِ
كفارسٍ في دِرْعِه الدَّليص
Summarized and summarized to what extent!
Like a horseman in his flexible armor
يَمضي مضاءَ اللَّهذَم المشُوص
أبا الحسين يا كريم العيص
Passing inspired by God's light
Oh Abu Al-Hussein, generous noble one
مَن عنترٌ من أَسَدُ الرهيص
عندك يوم المأزقِ المرصوص
Who is a lion from the lions of knighthood
With you on the day of distress and misery
يا ابنَ فصوص المجدِ فالفصوص
ذوي الرُّهوص الشُّمِّ فالرُّهوص
Oh son of the glories of glories
Possessors of loftiness, honor and might
شفاءٌ فَحص المشتفي الفحوص
كما طارَ من طيرِكَ من قصيص
A cure that healed the healed from injury
As your birds did flee from their nest
جاءتْ مجيءَ التائقِ الحريص
يُنفِذُها من أعوَص العَويص
Coming eager, yearning and keen
With the most crippled wings deployed
أجنحَةٌ مُوثَّقَةُ الفريص
كَسَعفِ النخل اللطيف الخُوص
Wings braided and adorned
Like the elegant, soft palm fronds
هيهاتِ ما للريح من مَحيص
منها وما للبرقِ من مَفيص
Never! The wind has no unraveling of it
Nor the lightning a tearing
طَيرُكَ للتجيل والتخصيص
والمدجِ ذي التَّمنيق والتَّخليص
Your birds are for boasting and specification
And praise of the finest class and deliverance
وما سوى طَيْرِكَ للمَصُوصِ
كم من طويل الصَّوْنِ في القُرْموص
While the rest of birds are for the trapped
Many a conceited one in arrogance
غَادَرْتَهُ أَذلَّ مِنْ حُرْقُوصِ
مستتراً بالجندلِ المرصُوص
You have left the most disgraced and down
Concealing with a coarse, rough gown
تَسَتُّرَ الجابي منَ الشُّصُوص
منْ شُبْهبِها الساطعةِ الوبيص
The hyena takes cover from the little hyenas
With its shining whiteness and striking green
وخُضْرِها الموموقةِ الشُّخُوصِ
من ساذجٍ أو أَنْمَرِ القميص
From the plain or the leopard's shirt
As if characterized with descriptions
كأنما فُصِّصَ بالفصوص
أسْرَقَ للبُعْدِ من اللُّصُوص
Surpassing distances from the thieves
Wandering in the forests away from large thorns
أهدى لدى الغاباتِ من دُعْموصِ
ومن قَطَا البرِّ إلى المَفْحوص
And from the plateau to the probed place
Leaving behind birds, one by one
يُغادِرُ الطيرَ بحِيْص بِيص
كأنَّها من شأوِهِ المنْصُوص
As if it's of its own making and design
Between the carried and the picked
ما بين مَشْكُولٍ إلى مَقْصُوص
والنخلُ من أَذنابِها كالخوص
And the palm trees are of its tails like the palm fronds
Between the retracting its elongated neck
بين مُقِلٍّ عُنُقَ الموقوصِ
وَمُسْتَقلٍّ قدَمَ الموهوص
And the straightening its extended leg
Retreating, yearning for the retreat
ينكص مُشْتاقاً إلى النُّكُوص
