1. إن تفاءَلْتَ لي بفألِ السُّرورِ

    ونجاةٍ من سَطْوَةِ المَحْذُورِ

    If you wish me the joy of delight

    And salvation from the tyranny of fear

  2. فَلِما قَدْ عَلِمتَ من بُغْضِ تَشْرِي

    نَ وَبُغْضِيهِ دونَ كلِّ الشهور

    Then why have you come to know the hatred of Tishreen

    And its hatred other than all the months

  3. فكأني بفألِ شعرِكَ قد ص

    حَّ وفألُ الأشعارِ ليس بزُور

    So it is as if the omen of your poetry has come true

    And the omen of poems is not false

  4. وسلخنا تشرينَ بل ألفَ تشري

    نَ وَدُمْنَا على دوامِ الدهور

    And we have stripped Tishreen, rather a thousand Tishreens

    And we have lasted the eternal ages

  5. وسقانا الراني بمقلةِ يَعْفُور

    رٍ عُقاراً حَكَتْ دَمَ اليعفور

    And we were quenched by the singer with a cup ofYa’four

    A potion that talks of the blood of Ya’four

  6. في بِسَاطٍ من مَرزَجوشٍ إلى آ

    سٍ إلى نرجسٍ إلى منثور

    On a carpet of Marzgoush to Ās

    To Narcissus to Mannathour

  7. في شتاءٍ لِبَرْدِهِ لذةٌ ل

    ذةَ بَرْدِ الوصالِ للمهجور

    In a winter whose cold is a pleasure

    The pleasure of the coldness of estrangement to the estranged

  8. يا أبا القاسمِ الذي هو نورُ ال

    عينِ للعينِ أو فنور النور

    O Abu Al-Qasim, who is the light of the eye

    For the eye or the light of light

  9. واصف الراح لي ولا يشرب الرا

    ح معي في الرَّواحِ أو في البكور

    Describing the winds to me, but does not drink the winds with me

    In the winds or in the dawns

  10. كَمُعِيرِ الطُّنبورِ منْ غير زيرٍ

    أو معيرٍ زيراً بلا طُنْبُور

    Like the piper of the flute without a companion

    Or a piper piping without a flute

  11. سَرَّ قلبي سرورُ قلبكَ يا حُسْ

    نَ سرورِ السرورِ بالمسرور

    My heart was delighted by the delight of your heart, O Husn

    The delight of delights with the delighted

  12. أوتخشى نكث الحبور لمن أذ

    ت كفيل له بوجه الحبور

    Or do you fear the betrayal of the confused one to whom

    I have vouched with the face of the confused
