Bearing a body of light molded

By the spirit into a soul

إذا سقانا مَنَحَ الكاسَ من

صفاتِه ما كان ممنوحاً

When he gave us drink, he granted the cup

The qualities with which it was endowed

من خدّه لوناً ومن ريقه

طعماً ومن نكهته ريحا

From his cheek its hue, from his saliva

Its taste, from his scent its fragrance
