You came to me thirsty and desperate,
And that is the sweetest life can be.
What pleasure for my yearning soul
To have the thirsty come to me.
After sleep, they indulged in play,
Then revived, fully refreshed.
Sahl, son of Ishaq, may we not lose you,
Your gentle days and happy nights.
You smoothed the bed of my life for me
Though it had been rough and hard.
So I remain forever grateful,
And you remain refreshed and bright.
