وَفي ناتِقٍ كانَ اِصطِلامُ سَراتِهِم
لَيالِيَ أَفنى القَرحُ جُلَّ إِيادِ
And at Nātiq came the annihilation of their chiefs,
on nights when battle wounds wiped out the greater part of Iyād.
نَفَوا إِخوَةً ما مِثلَهُم كانَ إِخوَةٌ
لِحَيٍّ وَلَم يَستَوحِشوا لِفَسادِ
They exiled brothers—none like them had ever been brothers
to any clan—and sought no clear proof of wrongdoing.
