  3. A bewilderment that dazes minds, and an ardor

that sows sickness in healthy hearts.

  4. The universe spoke of my beloved, and so

every limb became smeared with wounds.

  5. My mind was bewildered by a lord of Quraysh,

and to that sanctuary and those broad valleys,

  7. Load the pale camels—may you never be bereft—with my greetings

to the Prophet of guidance, the attainer of success.

  8. God kept every wretch away from him,

and every foul-mouthed man, and every man fully armed.

  9. Some people envied him for his prophethood,

and feigned blindness to his radiant light.

  10. They fought him, feigning ignorance. How can it be hidden—

the sun's rising or the morning's radiance?
