1. O my tongue, proclaim aloud the praise of the Prophet,

    and of Abū Bakr, the God-fearing, the pure.

  2. Light shines from my praise of Abū Ḥaf—

    —ṣ, of ʿUthmān, and of the Imam ʿAlī.

  3. My speech is adorned with praise of Ṭalḥa,

    and with praise of al-Zubayr among every people.

  4. O Ibn ʿAwf, and O Saʿīd ibn Zayd,

    in you both every manifest virtue is gathered.

  5. Fragrance wafts from my praise of Saʿd,

    and of my master ʿĀmir, the Qurashī.

  6. Love of them, and all akin to it, fills the heart;

    such is the very state of every faithful soul.

  7. He longs to see them and to be blessed

    by meeting them in a lofty, everlasting abode.

  8. By their radiance every beholder is guided

    out of passion’s darkness and every error.

  9. Praise grows beautiful when it is of them; so plead

    through them every morning and evening.

  10. O my God, bless the grave of Ṭā Hā,

    and his family, and every God-fearing soul.
