1. أَبو حَسَن لَهُ القدح المُعَلى

    وَقَدر فَوقَ أَوج النَجم عَلى

    Abu Hassan has the highest virtue

    And worth above the stars' apex

  2. كَريم الأَصل مِن قَومٍ كِرام

    إمام زاده الرَحمَن فَضلا

    Noble descent of generous people

    The guided Imam excels in merit

  3. هُوَ البَحر المُحيط بِكُل علم

    فَما أَصفى مَوارده وَأَحلى

    He is the endless sea of all knowledge

    How refined are its springs and sweet!

  4. علي نعته في الكتب باد

    تَقي فَضله في الناس يُتلى

    His virtues in books have spread

    His overwhelming virtue among people is recited

  5. أَمير المُؤمنين أَبو تراب

    وَصَفوة هاشم فرعاً وَأَصلا

    The Commander of the Faithful, father of soil

    And elite of Hashim, branch and origin

  6. حَبيب المُصطفى وَقَد اِرتَضاه

    لِفاطمة البتول الطهر بعلا

    Beloved of the Chosen who approved him

    As virtuous husband for the maiden Fatima

  7. فَكانَ المُرتَضى كفواً كَريما

    وَقَد كانَت لَهُ الزَهراء أَهلا

    So he was the honored, generous match

    And she was right for him, the luminous

  8. أَمير النَحل يَعسوب غضوب

    عَلى الدين القَويم لِمَن تَوَلى

    Prince of bees, hot-tempered

    For the upright faith of those loyal

  9. فَسَل عَنهُ القنا وَالبيض أَما

    أَباد الأَشقيا طَعناً وَقَتلا

    Ask about him the parties of Qinnasrin

    He slew the wretched, attacking and killing

  10. وَسَل عَن باب خَيبر إِذ دَحاها

    وَأورث أَهلها ضَعفاً وَذُلا

    And ask about Khaybar's gate when he destroyed it

    And made its people doubly abased

  11. هُوَ البَطَل الغَيور إِذا تَلاقَت

    جُموع الكُفر وَالمِغوار وَلى

    He's the zealous hero if assembled

    The hordes of blasphemy would retreat

  12. فَكَم بَطَلاً أَبادَ وَكَم شُجاعاً

    يسقيه القنا علاً وَنهلا

    So many warriors he slew, so many brave

    He'd make drink death's cup, exalted

  13. إِذا ضَرَب الكِرام بِكُل سَهم

    فَإِن لِمثله القَدح المُعلى

    If the generous draw each arrow

    To its like belongs the highest calabash

  14. بَدا للأجلح المفضال فَضل

    وَقَدر فَوقَ أَوج النجم عَلى

    Outstanding virtue manifest to Africans

    And worth beyond the stars atop

  15. أَعد لي ذكره في كُلِّ آن

    فَيا أَهلاً بِذكراه وَسَهلا

    Ready for me always his mention

    Welcome, his recollection and plains!

  16. فَمَن لي أَن أشم ثَراه يَوماً

    وَأكحل ناظِري وَالطَرف يُجلى

    Who will grant me to scent his earth one day

    And kohl my eyes as vision clears?

  17. وَمَن لي أَن أَرى قَبراً مُنيراً

    بِجانبه قَديم الوَحي يُتلى

    Who will grant me to see an illuminated tomb

    Beside it, the ancient revelation being recited?

  18. وَمَن لي أَن أُقابله بذل

    وَمَدمع مُقلَتي يَزداد هَطلا

    Who will grant me to face him with humility

    As tears increasingly pour?

  19. دخيل يا هداة الخَلق أَني

    ذَليلاً جئتكم وَالذُل أولى

    An intruder am I, O guides of creation

    Humbled, I've come to you, and humbleness more befitting

  20. صلوني وَاجبروا كَسري وَداووا

    جِراح القَلب أن العُمر وَلى

    Pray over me and mend my brokenness And cure love's sickness, for life has deserted me

    Through your stature heaviness was lifted from me

  21. بِجاهكم رفعت الوزر عَني

    فَلَم أَسطع لِذاكَ الوزر حملا

    I couldn't carry that load

    How would your praiser be wronged when you are

  22. فَكَيفَ يُضام مادحكم وَأَنتُم

    نَبيكم عَلَيهِ اللَه صَلى

    Your prophet, God's prayers on him?

    Through Hussein's stature heal Hussein

  23. بِجاه حسينكم داووا حُسينا

    فَتى أَضحى لَكُم عَبداً وَمَولى

    A youth who for your sake became a slave and loyal friend
