1. A palace for which the canopy of glory is reserved,

    And victory's keen sword is drawn at its summit.

  2. Its dome has shone in all six directions,

    As though it were light, with light above it.

  3. A tower where the moon of joys stands high;

    Glass panes and crystal have told us of it.

  4. Perfume wafts from that wall, so do not

    be surprised, for within it sprinklings of musk are strewn.

  5. The trees have formed a wreath around it in varied forms;

    Some stand raised, and others trail low.

  6. And blossoms camped along its edges, so it became

    like the full moon, while the garden above it is deep darkness.

  7. And the tender narcissus gazes toward its beholder,

    And opens its eyelid, though it is drooping.

  8. And the damask rose said, though it was silent,

    to the other roses: 'If love is unjust, be unjust too.'

  9. And the birds sing out, while melodies are sustained,

    And the nightingale has its echoes and repeated notes.

  10. How splendid you are, O nightingale, for indeed

    a santur and a tanbur have sung to your voice.

  11. You have grown joyful, since you are aloft,

    Facing Abd Allah's dome, full of joy.

  12. That man whose worth is exalted, for he has no

    peer, likeness, or counterpart in this age.

  13. He is rain, and rain comes only from his fingertips;

    He is a lion, and every lion is terrified of him.

  14. Minted gold never grows accustomed to his palm,

    For he is an elixir to whoever looks to him in hope.

  15. O master of the lofty dome and the honor

    that is inscribed upon glory's battlements,

  16. You are the sovereign without whom it would not have been built;

    Excellence and the renowned noble men have fallen behind.

  17. And glory's luminary is hidden from no one,

    Except when the blind and the one-eyed look.

  18. There is no harm if the vicious dog harasses you,

    For the full moon is barked at by a dog and a pig.

  19. He seeks to extinguish God's light out of envy,

    Yet God's protection forms a wall around it.

  20. So rejoice, for your banner is raised above

    Orion, while the loathed envier lies slaughtered.
