  1. ماذا عَلى من شم تُربة أَحمَد

    أَن لا يَكون عَن المَودة نائيا

    What is upon one who smells Ahmad's soil

    Except to not distance from affection?

  2. وَوَددت قَلباً قَد وَهى لفراقه

    أَن لا يشم مَدى الزَمان غَواليا

    I wished for a heart that weakened from parting with him

    That it would not perceive the length of time as painful.

  3. صبت علي مَصائب لَو انَّها

    وَرَدت عَلى جبل لأَصبَحَ هاويا

    Misfortunes were poured upon me, if they

    Had fallen upon a mountain, it would have collapsed.

  4. وَمُصيبَتي في المُصطَفى لَو انَّها

    صبت عَلى الأَيام صرنَ لَياليا

    And my affliction is in al-Mustafa - if it

    Had poured upon the days, the nights would have wailed.
