You surpassed all creation, beyond dispute.
Thus I was master of the nobles.
Yours are glory and exalted pride.
Who is like ‘Amr, and who like ‘Abd Manāf?
Youths like stars—and the full moon among them
Is you, O possessor of consummate perfection.
So if you vie in glory, their glory comes from you;
And if you vie in stature, your rank suffices.
So through you, time and existence are radiant,
Bright of face, gentle in bearing.
At the mention of you, suffering fled, and there vanished
The creed of unbelief and the harsh enemy.
In Rabī‘, time appeared as spring,
Nourished by a rumbling downpour.
Whoever beheld your shining countenance has prospered,
Adorned with the noblest qualities.
For it is like the sun, a light for humankind.
I do not exaggerate—by Sūrat al-A‘rāf!
So aid me, O father of al-Batūl, for I
Have come to be called your servant, the lavish praiser.
