1. كف الملام فَلَست أَول عَذلي

    كَم في الفُؤاد صَبابة لا تَنجَلي

    Cease blaming, for you are not my first reproacher

    How much youthful passion lingers that cannot be dispelled

  2. أَتلوم من ملك الغَرام فُؤاده

    فاذهب فَأَنتَ عَن الغَرام بِمعزل

    Would you blame one whose heart is possessed by love?

    Go away, for you are far removed from passion

  3. يا للرجال حمية مِن غادة

    ترمي بِأَجفان الغَزال الأَكحَل

    O men, with zeal for an absent love

    Who glance at the kohl-rimmed eyes of a gazelle

  4. نَظَرت فَأَي حشاشة لَم تَنقَطع

    وَنَأت فَأَية عبرة لَم تَنزل

    I looked and what shyness has not ceased?

    I approached and what chastity has not humbled?

  5. مَرض الجُفون وَسقمها قَد حَلَّ بي

    في كُلِّ جُزء مِن قِواي وَمفصل

    My eyelids are sick and their illness has afflicted me

    In every limb and every joint

  6. سارَت وَقَد طَلَع الصَباح بِفرقها

    متبلجاً عَن لَيل فرع أَليَلِ

    She walked away as dawn rose to part us

    Brightening from a dark night of communion

  7. وَتَأودت في قامة لَو قابلت

    أَمضى العَوامل في الوَغى لَم يعمل

    And she was bashful with a stature, that if faced

    The harshest decrees in tumult, they would not take effect

  8. يا ربة الخَد الأَسيل وَتربة ال

    خصر النَحيل تَقربي وَتدللي

    O mistress of the soft cheek and dust of the delicate waist

    Come nearer and show tenderness

  9. كَيفَ الوصول إِلى جناك وَدونه

    زرق الأَسنة في اللهام الجحفل

    How can I attain your garden, when between us

    Lances of glances in earnest throng?

  10. فَهبي بِأَني ألتَقيهم مُفردا

    بِعَزائِمي العُظمى وَقُوة هَيكلي

    Grant that I meet them alone

    With my great resolves and the strength of my frame

  11. فَبِأَي عَقل ألتقيك وَانَّني

    إِن شمت وَجهك مُسفِراً لَم أعقل

    For with what intellect can I meet you

    When, if I glimpse your face unveiled, I lose all reason?

  12. لَك في الفُؤاد مَكانة مَخصوصة

    لَك في القُلوب مَنازل لَم تَنزل

    For you there is a special place in my heart

    For you, dwellings that have not been humbled

  13. يا نسمة حملت إِلي حَديثها

    بُثي أَحاديثي إِلَيها وَاحملي

    O breeze, bear my words to her

    And carry her words to me

  14. فَلَنا هُناك مَعاهد لَم نَنسَها

    وَلَنا هُناكَ مَعالم لَم تجهل

    For there we have pacts we have not forgotten

    And there we have tokens we have not been heedless of

  15. حَيث الحَبيبة وَالحَبيب كِلاهُما

    غُصنان بَينَ مقبل وَمقبل

    Where the beloved and her lover together

    Are both branches between drawing nearer and drawing nearer

  16. وَالغُصن غَض وَالزمان مُوافق

    وَالجد سام وَالرَقيب بِمَعزل

    The branch is verdant, the time auspicious

    And the matter earnest, the spy absent

  17. حَتّى إِذا أَبدى الزَمان ضَبابه

    وَتَغولت غيلانه في مَنزِلي

    Until when time shows its clouds

    And its torrents flow into my dwelling

  18. وَبَدَت جَنادعه وَهال كَأنه

    جلمود صَخر قَد تَحدر مِن عل

    And its deceits appear, as if it were

    The stubbornness of rock cascading from on high

  19. أَضحى يُكلفني بِدَعوة فتية

    أَحلى مَذاقهم كَماء الحَنظل

    It has tasked me with inviting youths

    Whose taste is the sweetest, like water of fenugreek

  20. لا در درك يا زَمان فَإِنَّني

    عبد لآل مُحَمد وَبَني علي

    You know not, O time, that I

    Am a servant of Mohamed’s family and the people of Ali

  21. أَأضام عَبد اللَه دَعوة صارخ

    مِن رَيب ذا الزمَن الخؤون وَأَنتَ لي

    Shall the servant of God ignore the call

    Of one wary of the griefs of this time, while you are my aid,

  22. وَيُصيبني جنف وَأَنتَ وَسيلَتي

    وَيحل بي سوء وَبابك موثلي

    And wrong befalls me, while your door is my recourse,

    O son of those who race sublimely to the heights

  23. يا ابن السراة الطائِرين إِلى العُلى

    وَالسائِرين إِلى المقام الأَفضل

    And walk to the most virtuous station

    And son of the trusted, holding fast to piety

  24. وابن الثقات القابِضين عَلى التُقى

    وَالشارِبين مِن الغَدير الأَول

    And drinking from the first pool

    They have, in glory, the loftiest rank

  25. قَوم لَهُم في المَجد أَرفع رتبة

    منصة مِن قَبلهم لَم تَنزل

    No platform has descended before them

    The honored masters and guiding lights

  26. السادة الشُرَفاء وَالشُم الألى

    تعزى أصولهم لِأَكرم مُرسل

    Whose origins ascend to the most noble messenger

    And eminent scions, the progeny of Ahmad

  27. وَالقادة الأَنجاب عترة أَحمد

    وَبني علي المُرتَضى القرم الوَلي

    And the children of Ali, the contented Guardian

    For you, o son, their greatest pride

  28. لَكَ يا ابن فَخر مِنهُم فَخر غَدا

    مُتَأَلقا فَوقَ السماك الأَعزَل

    Shining atop the impenetrable celestial sphere

    Knowledge and wisdom and brilliance

  29. علم وَعرفان وَفَضل باهر

    وَفَضائل جَلت وَتَفصيل جلي

    And merits that have manifested and detailed clarity

    And a hand that touches and is not miserly through the ages

  30. وَيَد تسح وَلا تشح مَدى المَدى

    وَتَطول بِالجود العَميم الأَطول

    And lasting, all-encompassing generosity

    And virtues that are beautiful when heard

  31. وَمَحاسن حسنت فَطابَ سَماعها

    وَتَسَلسَلَت مثل الشَراب السَلسل

    Cascading like gently flowing drink

    Your eminent traits have wearied

  32. طالَت مَناقبك الحِسان فَأعجَزَت

    ذهن الفَصيح المفلق المُتأمل

    The mind of the eloquent, articulate contemplator

    For you are the source of every brilliant merit

  33. إِذ أَنتَ مصدر كُل فَضل باهر

    وَمَدار كُل حَميدة وَتَفضل

    And the axis of every praised and noble act

    You have become singular in magnanimity

  34. أَصبَحت فَرداً في المَكارم وَاحِداً

    تُدعى بِخَير مُعظم وَمبجل

    Called the best of the greatest and most majestic

    It brings you joy, the children whose destinies are lofty

  35. يهنيك أَولاد سَمَت أَقدارهم

    وَجَرَت أَياديهم كَسَيل مُرسل

    And whose hands flow like released torrents

    Fair of face, noble in account

  36. بيض الوُجوه كَريمة أَحسابهم

    شم الأُنوف مِن الطِراز الأَول

    Keen of scent, of the finest stock

    Their glories have spread over all the land

  37. نَشرت مَفاخرهم عَلى كُل الوَرى

    وَبَدَت مَكارِمهُم لِكُل مُؤمل

    And their virtues have appeared to every hopeful

    And it is enough honor for them that you are their father

  38. وَكَفى لَهُم شَرَفاً بِأَنك والد

    لَهُم لأنك صاحب الشرَف العلي

    For you possess the loftiest nobility

    For you is protection and care for the land

  39. لَكُم الحِماية وَالرعاية لِلوَرى

    إرثا وأي وراثة لَم تُقبل

    A legacy – and what legacy has been accepted?

    And for you are favors from me I have not forgotten

  40. وَلَكُم علي مَكارم لَم أَنسَها

    لا وَالإله الواحد الفَرد العلي

    No, by the One God, the Singular, the Sublime

    With them you graced me aforetime

  41. منن بِها طَوقتموني سابِقاً

    في لاحق بَينَ الوَرى لَم تَجهل

    Not to be ignorant among the people thereafter

    And indeed for your promise I waited eagerly

  42. وَلَقَد أَقَمت لِوَعدكم مُتَشَوقاً

    كَتشوف الصاري لأعذب منهل

    Like the yearning of the archer for the sweetest spring

    I do not hesitate in what you have promised and I did not say

  43. لا أَمتري فيما وَعَدت وَلَم أَقُل

    طالَ الوُقوف عَلى رُسوم المَنزل

    Prolonged standing at the vestiges of the dwelling

    Far be it from you to say to a visitor

  44. حاشا جَنابك أَن يَقول لِقاصد

    فَإِذا تَشاء أَبا مُعاذ فارحل

    “If you desire, Abu Mu’adh, then depart”

    Rather humankind is distinguished by a state

  45. لكنما الإِنسان خص بِحالة

    هلع الفُؤاد وَخيفة المُستعجل

    Of heart-alarmed and urgent apprehension

    So when you find, O father of bounties, a time

  46. فَمَتى وَجَدت أَبا الكِرام لِحاجَتي

    وَقتاً فَبادر بِالقَضاء وَعَجل

    For my need, then accomplish and hasten

    I have proposed, due to my hardship and necessity,

  47. إِني اِقتَرَحت لشدتي وَضَرورَتي

    لما علمتك في الشَدائد موئلي

    When I knew you as my refuge in adversities

    I remain under your protected shadow, hopeful

  48. لا زلت مَحروس الجَناب مؤملاً

    لِلحادِثات وَكُل أَمر معضل

    For events and every perplexing matter
