1. أَمن رَوضة غَناء باكرها القطر

    تَحركَت وَالأَفراح أَكثرها نزر

    From a garden of melody, the morning dew awakened it

    And joys stirred, though most were meager

  2. رَنا نحوك المَنثور مِنها فَأَصبَحَت

    دُموعك مِن فرط الغَرام لَها نَثر

    It sang to you scattered, so your tears

    Became, from intense passion for it, a scattering

  3. وَمال عَليك الآس مِنها كَأَنَّهُ

    مَليح عَلى أَغصانِهِ حلل خضر

    And sorrow leaned upon you as if

    A handsome man in green robes upon its branches

  4. وَوافتكَ أَقلام الرياحين في الضُحى

    عَلى صَفحات الماء من ظلِها سطر

    And pens of basil met you at dawn

    In lines upon the surface of the water from its shade

  5. وَأَضحى البشام اللون مُذ هَبت الصبا

    بِأَول فَصل المهرَجان لَهُ عطر

    And the air took on a roseate hue when the breeze

    Brought the first season of festival its fragrance

  6. وَنمَّ لَكَ النَّمام سراً مكتماً

    عَن الجلنار الرَطب لَيسَ لَهُ نَشر

    And the gossip whispered to you secretly, concealed

    About the moist oleander that had no diffusion

  7. وَشاقَكَ مِنها لازورد كَأَنَّهُ

    عَلى أَصلِهِ ياقوتة ضَمها بَدر

    And it competed with you in blueness as if

    A sapphire upon its origin a ruby the full moon gathered

  8. وَصالَت جُيوش الوَرد حَتّى تَشبثت

    مَخالبها بِالشيح إِذ نَزَل النَصر

    And armies of roses marched until their

    Talons clung to the thorn when victory descended

  9. وَرد كَسيراً إِذ تَصَدى لنرجس

    فَعاجله مِن جفنه النَظر الشزر

    And the narcissus returned humbled when it opposed

    The violet, so it hastened to face it with a withering glance

  10. وَوَرقاء غَنت وَالعَنادل حَولها

    فَشاقك من ترديدها المد وَالقصر

    And the leaves sang while finches circled them

    Your heart was torn between their modulation and rhythm

  11. وَراق صَفير العَندَليب وَهَمزه

    عَلى عذبات الرند إِذ نَزَل القطر

    And the warbling of the bulbul was pleasing and its

    Teasing of the tender sprigs when the dew descended

  12. أَم التفتت هَيفاء مَهضومة الحشا

    يرنحها دل وَيثقلها كبر

    Has the gazelle, her cheek sunken, turned

    Her throat burdened by languor and age?

  13. بجيد كإبريق المدام يَزينه

    مِن العَين سمط قَد تخلله در

    With a neck like a wine ewer adorned

    By a beauty spot from the eye threading it like a pearl

  14. ووَجه حبته الشَمس صورة وَجهها

    وَمن كَلَف البَدر التَمام بِهِ صفر

    And the sun pictured its face in the image of her face

    And the full moon strove to perfect it with paleness

  15. وَحَوراء تَرنو للعباد بِناظر

    رَقيق الحَواشي بَعض أَخلاقه الكسر

    And a houri glancing flirtatiously with a glance

    Of soft edges and some coquettish gestures

  16. نَضا مُرهفاً لوسل في حَومة الوَغى

    عَلى جَيش كِسرى في وَقايعه فروا

    A delicate, sensitively responsive gaze that would wash

    An army of Kisra during his battles with tears

  17. إِذا نشرت لَيل الذَوائب في الضُحى

    تَأَلق مِن أَقصى غَدائرها فَجر

    When the night of torment spreads at dawn

    Dawn glows from the furthest corners of its darkness

  18. فَلا تُنكِروا إِن غابَ في الشعر وَجهها

    وَفي اللَيلة الظَلماء يفتقد البَدر

    So do not deny if her face is absent in poetry

    And the full moon is missed on a dark night

  19. لَقَد حارَت الأَفكار في وَصفها كَما

    بِأَوصاف عَبد اللَه قَد حير الفكر

    Indeed thoughts were confused in describing her as

    In describing Abdullah, thought was confused

  20. سَليل العُلى جبريل خادم جده

    عَلى قَلبه القُرآن أنزل وَالذكر

    Grandson of the sublime, Gabriel, servant of his grandfather

    Upon whose heart the Quran and remembrance were revealed

  21. وَكُرسي عَرش المَجد لَولاه أَصبَحَت

    طِباق العُلى وَالفَضل لَيسَ لَها ذكر

    And the throne of majesty, were it not for him, would have been

    The sphere of sublime and favor would have no mention

  22. عَلا شَرفاً فالشامِخات بِأَسرها

    تقدر رَفيع القَدر لَيسَ لَها قدر

    He ascended in nobility so the towering heights entirely

    Cannot appreciate the esteem of one beyond esteem

  23. وَأشرق ضوء الشَمس مِن نور وَجهه

    فَما النيرات السَبع وَالأَنجُم الزهر

    And the light of the sun shone from the light of his face

    So neither the seven planets nor the sparkling stars

  24. هُوَ الحبر فَالعرفان مِن عَين قَلبه

    تَفجر حَتّى تاهَ في وَصفِها الخضر

    He is the sea and gnosis from his heart’s eye

    Gushed forth til it wandered lost in describing it

  25. هُوَ البَحر وَالإكسير لو ذر بَعضه

    لأَصبَح شَمساً ذَلِكَ الجَبل الصفر

    He is the sea and elixir, were a speck of him to vanish

    It would become a sun – that yellow mountain

  26. هُوَ الآية الكُبرى فَلَو تليت عَلى

    طلاسم سحر ذابَ مِن أَجلِها السحر

    He is the greatest sign, if recited upon

    Spells of magic, for his sake sorcery would melt

  27. هُوَ الدُرة البَيضاء مِن كنز حيدر

    خَباها لَنا ذخراً فَكانَ هُوَ الذخر

    He is the white pearl of Haydar’s treasure

    He hid it for us as a treasure, and he became the treasure

  28. لَئِن بدئ الأَمر الخَطير بجده

    فَبالحبر عَبد اللَه قَد ختم الأَمر

    If the critical matter began with his grandfather

    With the Chosen Abdullah it sealed the matter

  29. فَهُم علة الكَونين قَد جاءَ نَصها

    وَوافقه الإِيماء في ذاكَ وَالسير

    For they are the cause of the two worlds, its aid came

    And gesturing coincided in that and conduct

  30. فَلا الحُكم عَنها في الوَرى مُتخلفاً

    وَلا القَلب يَعروها وَلا النَقض وَالكسر

    So neither judgment in the world left behind it

    Nor heart, stripping it bare, nor rupture and breaking

  31. أَلَم تَرَ أَن الكَون أَصبَح مُشرِقاً

    بِطَلعته والست حركها البشر

    Have you not seen that the universe became radiant

    With his rising, though man set the six in motion?

  32. تهنيه بِالأَعياد جَهلاً وَإِنَّما

    تهنى بِهِ الأَعياد لَو أنصف الدَهر

    It congratulates him on holidays foolishly, though

    The holidays offer congratulations to him, if fate were just

  33. فَلا عيد إِلا مِن أَسارير وَجهه

    وَلا يسر إِلا أَن يَكون بِهِ اليُسر

    For there is no holiday but from the sanctuaries of his face

    No happiness but in ease coming through him

  34. تَقَدم من ذا الشَهر تسع أَعدها

    وَبِالسَيد المفاضل قَد تَمت العشر

    Nine preceded of this month, then the eminent Sayyid

    Completed the tenth

  35. فيا بَهجة الدُنيا وَيا نور عَينها

    وَيا سرها المَكتوم إِن ظَهر السر

    O delight of the world, O light of its eye

    O its hidden secret, if the secret appeared

  36. وَيا شَمسها إِن حَل في الحُوت شَمسها

    وَيا بَدرها الوَضاح إِن كسف البَدر

    Its sun, if into Pisces went its sun

    Its full moon, if its full moon were eclipsed

  37. وَيا وابل العافين إِن ذكر النَدى

    وَيا فَخر هَذا العَصر إِن ذكر الفَخر

    O clouds of blessings, if the dew were mentioned

    O pride of this age, if pride were mentioned

  38. أَتَتكَ مِن النظم البَديع فَريدة

    تَميس وَمِن أَردانِها يعبق العطر

    There came to you from artful composition a unique poem

    It aspires, and from its boughs wafts fragrance

  39. وَما قَصدها إِلا القبول لأَنَّها

    طَوَت كُل بَحر دونَ ذياك يا بَحر

    It sought you only for acceptance, for it

    Circled every sea short of you, O sea!

  40. وَجاءَت تهني العيد فيك لأَنَّها

    رَأَت أنك العيد الَّذي ضَمهُ العَصر

    And it came to congratulate the holiday in you, for it

    Saw that you are the holiday encompassed by the age

  41. وَإِني أَرى ما قَد رَأَتهُ عَقيدة

    فَوجهك قَد أَضحى وَمَدحك لي قطر

    And I see what it saw as creed

    Your face thus became, and praising me, droplets

  42. وَبَعد طَوافي فيكَ سَبعاً مُلَبياً

    وَسَعيي وَإحرامي وَقد ثبت الأَجر

    And after my circumambulations around you, seven, compliant,

    My sa’y, donning ihram, the reward affirmed

  43. حَلَقت بِك الأَعداء ثُم نحرتهم

    وَلا شَك أَن الحلق يَعقبه النَّحر

    I ritually slaughtered enemies around you, then slaughtered them

    There is no doubt that slaughter comes after the stoning

  44. فَدم بِالهَنا يا غايَة القَصد وَالمُنى

    يَدوم لَك الإقبال في الكَون وَالنَّصر

    With delight, O ultimate goal and purpose

    May your prosperity in the universe and triumph endure

  45. مَدى الدَهر ما غنت عَلى الدَّوح هتف

    وَما طارَ في أَعلى نَواحي العُلى نسر

    As long as the cycle of days, no voice chanted on the pulpits

    No eagle soared to the highest horizons of sublimity
