1. Through you al-Fayha became fair, and pleasant was the coming to it.

    And in it you are its blossoms and its roses.

  2. You illumined its darkness with the light of your counsel.

    So through you its outskirts and its borders shone.

  3. After you were gone, it died for a time; then you returned.

    So its existence returned to it after death.

  4. And you secured its environs and restored

    Its spirit to it, and at once its bough grew green.

  5. And you prevailed over its Bedouins and its tyrants.

    So its Yaqub and Hammud submitted to you.

  6. For you are its lords, and you are its protectors.

    And its masters on the day of battle, and its lions.

  7. Yours is the loftiest rank on the hills of glory,

    At which its Mansur and Rashid stand bewildered.

  8. So through your Khidr the parched wilderness grows green,

    And through Abd al-Karim its fortunes are praised.

  9. They are two steeds that lead the race in every virtue;

    Upon their radiant necks, its necklaces gleam.

  10. Long of reach, two rains of bounty, two lights of guidance,

    Two princes of deeds whose aloeswood puts musk to shame.

  11. They are two wings of right guidance in every place;

    So each young man is rightly called its Rashid.

  12. They inherited the knowledge of leadership long ago;

    When fathers are good, their offspring is good.

  13. And do not forget Wahhab, giver of noble deeds and bounty,

    And the mainstay of the lords of eminence, and its chief.

  14. Lions in battle, they and their cubs; high rose

    Through them the ranks of eminence, and its bounds stretched far.

  15. Noble deeds rushed forth from Abd al-Karim;

    Its free people and its slaves acknowledged them.

  16. Kingly governance has built for the subjects

    Pastures of justice, whose bounty overflowed among the people.

  17. And a soul's ambition that rose above every ambition,

    So its herald gained honor, and its praiseworthy one grew great.

  18. And a house for guests—may God keep his house flourishing—

    For its visitors came in throngs from every mountain pass.

  19. May the fates, O house of Yusuf, forever keep

    Their good fortunes singing for you above the heights of honor.

  20. And may he remain in lasting good fortune and a life

    Whose ease endures through the passing nights,

  21. For all time, as long as pilgrims journey to Mina,

    And their ascent to the highest hills is pleasant.
