1. Love has taken hold and, without doubt, endures.

    And longing has appeared, so it toys with the heart.

  2. A company has passed on in love of Taha,

    and I have become heir to the lovers.

  3. My breast found solace in praise through my heart,

    and my tongue; and my heart became the third.

  4. The universe grew drunk on praise of him, and began

    breathing praise into the hearts of the servants.

  5. He closed the breach in religion with a Book;

    he drew his blade against every oath-breaker.

  6. He reviled unbelief, for it is the most contemptible thing,

    since it no longer lingered because of his spear-point.

  7. Steadfast in heart and reason, he was impelled

    to guide us by promptings from God.

  8. From my insight returned the nightingale of my praise,

    so every panting one hid at his mention.

  9. Then I became independent of all but him,

    and took refuge in him from every calamity.

  10. I hope for the fruit of union, for I

    have grown hungry, turning from all but the Hashemite.
