1. Truth appeared in meanings and words.

    So we looked upon it with every glance.

  2. It kept rising through nobles of Quraysh,

    Who crushed every brute in defense of its sanctuary.

  3. They supported it with their lives and wealth,

    Out of generosity never once tainted by anger.

  4. Willingly they thirsted in summer's noonday heat,

    And in its presence forgot every personal gain.

  5. They triumphed when they held fast to a prophet,

    And to the bounds and admonitions he brought.

  6. He dispelled the darkness of polytheism with a light

    Which we have recited through study and memorization.

  7. His trust in God is a steadfast trust,

    As he endured, for His sake, every persistent harasser.

  8. Everyone who disobeys him is a wrongdoer, an ingrate,

    Who will face anguish of every kind on the Day of Meeting.

  9. Journeying toward the heights, he shows you speech;

    Pearls blush at the utterance of a word.

  10. His truthfulness and integrity are plain; sweet is

    The mention of him with every chew and taste.
