1. اِنّا لتُتحِفُنا بالأُنسِ كتبكمُ

    واِنْ بعدتُمْ فاِنَّ الشوقَ يُدنيها

    Truly, your letters grace us with companionship;

    Though you are far away, longing draws them near.

  2. وكيف نضجرُ منها وهي مُذْهِبَةٌ

    مِن وحشةِ البينِ لوعاتٍ نُعانيها

    And how could we weary of them, when they dispel

    The torments we suffer from separation’s loneliness?

  3. فاِنْ وصفتُمْ لنا فيها اشتياقَكُمُ

    فعندنا منكمُ أضعافُ ما فيها

    If in them you describe to us your yearning,

    We feel for you many times all that they contain.

  4. سلوا نسيمَ الصبَّا تُهدي تحيَّتنا

    إليكمُ فهي تدري كيف نُهديها

    Ask the breeze of the east wind to bear our greeting

    To you—for it knows how we would send it.
