I was loyal to those I loved, but they betrayed me
And my tranquility was lost when they were gone
I shed copious tears that reddened
My pale cheeks like carnelians
If only they had wept when leaving me
And grieved for the pain I was dealt
My tears deserve not to be wasted
Due to separation or humiliation
What tears after mine
Can be honored in love or respected?
More painful than my weeping is
Standing where they once stood
They broke a solid pact
That time could not change
I was used to their care in the past
But youth is now reckless and bold
They turned from loving me and strayed
For every love has its time
The sweetness of that life was marred
When the tender Arabs left me
I tasked my eyes with crying
When I silenced them, they flickered
The twisted curls and dark tresses protected them
With their bendable stems and pliancy
My beloveds smiles have parted from my eyes
Like flowers scattering in a meadow
They resent it when they walk proudly
In their silken clothes and glittering gowns
