Let me bear my sorrows and troubles,

My loved ones have left the yards of the abode.

Parting from them wasted my body and left it

Thin like scratches among my clothes.

They left and their beauty moved like magic,

So the sweetness of life was replaced with aloes.

Their playgrounds were devoid of any flirt,

My heart pierced with deprivation and eyelids.

Hyfa bent the twig of youth with her palm,

Soft like a sapling between peptides.

She gestured to me with a reddened finger,

Fearing the watcher, so she greeted me with her eye.

Then she followed it with a glance that alerted me quickly,

Annoyed by the motives of passionate longing.

Until I returned to the ruins to ask about her,

And inform them after her what happened to me.

What is wrong if I revived her abode,

To keep my covenant, O Lumia, away from blemishes.

And I did not find, though I spoke to her portraits,

After loved ones, but fluttering green.

They became estranged, and their estrangement pierced me,

While tears flowed from my inner being.

I felt frustrated with the days of separation, and I have not

Been comforted by years and eras.

So what is my trickery, if time is long with them,

And I do not see the empty time responsive.

And I have no benefit from an eyelid in the homes, if

I did not visit upon loved ones shedding tears.

And remembering my days near them

Does not benefit me, nor my restless nights.

They turned away, and an imagination that used to visit me

    At bedtime is now inaccessible.

O companion, will determination take me to their homes

With every desolation like the blowing wind?

Like the ostrich hiding from terror,

And the night does not canopy me and her.

And young men, their faces like shining stars,

When faced with adversity, resolute and highborn.

If you throw them into the heart of battle,

You throw in them spears and strikes.

And if they sit in peace and rise up

In science, they surpass both Arabs and non-Arabs.

Our loved ones distanced themselves from us, and their memory

Is echoed among us without prolongation.

If you, O she-camel, bring us to their land,

You will not camp except in meadows.

To the abodes whose distances have exhausted

    The determination of resolute seekers.

    Encampments whose conviviality

Used to visit me constantly without absence.

They are abodes whose dwellings were too proud

For the resolves of audacious warriors.

Forbidden for injustice to touch their boundary

By any brave lion, intrepid and unafraid.

They flow to the confusion of tumult in the bosom

Of spears and lances in the forest.

    Between fearless, audacious tribes

Like lions at the meeting place of peers.

I roam the desert toward them covered in dust

Like an unsheathed sword without a scabbard.

Atop a camel neighing in the wilderness,

Yearning, disdaining ostriches in the bare land.

When the cowardly hyena takes fright of their strength

To the waste or nights without answers.
