And he who yearned has yearned for the wilderness of the desert,

As ribs have encompassed passionate love.

A gazelle with alluring glances has,

The hearts of lovers become captivated by him.

Rich in beauty, none can equal him

Yet stingy in giving little gifts.

If you bargain with him to trade my soul,

He would say, “Does any of it still remain?”

He reaped my craze and left in my madness,

    Burdens upon him like necklaces.

And he saddled me in the evening time with his charm,

A lover even with the slightest of his glances detects the destinations.

And if not for his mouth, you would not have glimpsed a lightning bolt,

    Nor folded over sorrowful yearnings.

And the lightning bolt of commendation did not stir nor did my fervor,

But his lightning bolt of intimacy did stir them.
