آمَنتُ بِالمُعجِزِ وَالعَجزِ

فَفُزتُ بِالمَطلَبِ وَالكَنزِ

I believed in the one who renders powerless—and in powerlessness;

and thus attained the object sought and the treasure.

وَأَصبَحَ السئِبُ عَن كُلَّ مَح

روزٍ مِنَ الأَكوانِ في حَرَزي

The unfettered one—beyond every guarded

thing in creation—came within my keeping.

فلا أَرى في الكَونِ حُبّاً سِوى

حَيّي وَلا عِزّاً سِوى عَزّي

So nowhere in creation do I see any love save

love of my people, nor any glory save my own.

يَشهَدُ بِالصِدقِ لِقَولي فَتىً

حَلَّ بِحَلِّ العَقدِ مِن رَمزي

A youth bears truthful witness to my words—

who arrived at the solution by untying the knot in my symbol.

وَكُلُّ مَن غُيِّبَ عَن مَشهَدِ ال

حَقِّ بِأَهلِ الصِدقِ يَستَهزي

And everyone veiled from beholding the
