بُعداً لَقَومٍ جَهلُهُم جَهلُ ذي ال

عِلَّةِ في العِلمِ بِمَعلولِها

Away with a people whose ignorance is the ignorance

Of one who is diseased in his knowledge of causes,

وَلا يَصِحُّ العِلمُ مِن عالِمٍ

بِجُملَةٍ إِلّا بِتَفصيلِها

For knowledge is not sound in one who is a knower

Of things in gross, but only in one who knows their details.
